Twist the last corners

The strangest-feeling step in cubing, and then a finished cube. Do not panic halfway through.

Every corner is home; some are twisted. Hold the cube so a twisted corner is at the front-right, and repeat the four moves you already know from the white corners, R' D' R D, until that one corner's yellow faces up. It takes either two or four passes.

Now the strange part: without turning the whole cube, spin only the top layer to bring the next twisted corner to the front-right, and repeat. The bottom layers will look wrecked in between. They are not; the algorithm restores them each full cycle, and when the last corner twists up, the whole cube clicks back to solved around it. The first time this happens is a genuinely good moment. Enjoy it.

That is the entire method. Practise until the whole solve flows without looking anything up; for most people that is a few evenings. Your first timed target is five minutes, then two.

Finished when every face is one colour again.

Every algorithm on this page is checked by simulation before publishing: the position shown plus the moves shown must produce a solved cube. Players: press play, or step through one turn at a time.
