The Z perm
The back and right edges trade places, and so do the front and left edges. Ten moves put every piece home.
The last layer is all yellow on top, and every piece of the first two layers is home. What remains is position: the back and right edges trade places, and so do the front and left edges. This is the Z permutation, one of the twenty-one ways an oriented last layer can still be shuffled.
Turn the cube in your fingers and look for headlights, a matching pair split by an odd sticker, face the front and the right and the back and the left.
On average one solve in thirty-six ends here. The algorithm runs ten moves; play it slowly first, then step through it turn by turn with your own cube in hand.
