Move like a solver

Fast turning is not frantic turning. It is a settled grip, index-finger flicks, and short bursts drilled until they are one motion. Ten clean repetitions beat a hundred scrambled ones.

Hold the cube in both hands, thumbs on the front face, and keep it there. Regripping, letting go to reposition a hand, costs more time than any turn does. The whole craft of finger tricks is arranging the moves so the hands rarely need to leave home.

Start with the two turns that stop being wrist turns first. U and U' come from a flick of the index finger, off the back of the top layer for U' and off the front for U. D and D' belong to the ring finger the same way. R and R' stay wrist turns, and that is fine: right wrist, not whole arm.

Then stop reading algorithms letter by letter. Solvers execute short bursts, called triggers, as one motion. The player shows the two you will use most for the rest of your solving life: the sexy move, four turns that should feel like one roll of the fingers, and the sledgehammer, its front-hand cousin. Drill each until you can do it three times in a row without thinking about a single letter.

The standard caution: slow and smooth first. A trigger learned sloppily at speed stays sloppy. Ten clean repetitions beat a hundred scrambled ones.
